Website Transfers

Transferring websites is something we do every week (almost every day actually) here is some example website transfer information we sent to a client:

Your domain is  registered and hosted with us, there is three parts to it:

Name Server, A Records and MX Records, you have chosen to change your A Records (IP Address) but you have our Name Server and MX Records so hosting fees are applicable.

We were last contacted by the website design company, on your behalf, to change your A records on the 6th June and done that instantly for you.

Happy for you to transfer away or stay with us, if you transfer away there is a small transfer charge to pay (other charges ) and if you stay with us also happy. I can transfer the domain to another host but need their IPS tag and the £25 fee to complete this. In terms of  existing emails, if you use an email client for your email then your emails will be stored for you locally and you will retain your emails.

We look at sites as if they were our own and can say that your site has been neglected in terms of SEO and can see some very amateurish SEO mistakes on it, which if you want to take our SEO program we will be glad to fix. Additionally we have now got more SEO successful projects that we can report on to give you confidence that we can deliver SEO success in terms of visitor numbers and search engine rankings. The first part of our SEO project involved benchmarking and reporting on the current status so we can use that as a reference for you and to show the improvements made over the coming weeks and months.

A little SEO knowledge

A little knowledge in anything is normally dangerous and this ‘advice’ from another website designer shows that when he sends a ‘personalised’ Google Search results page to a customer as proof that they are ranking highly!
We did a search on Google which you will see on the image attached. You did not pay me for any SEO work however I optimised for more than 5 phrases within the cost. 3 months SEO work at that cost is absolutely shocking and is more than what you paid to have the whole site designed and built. If you want to give something like SEO optimisation a whirl, pay a much bigger reputable company about £300 a month. Give Delicious Webdesign a call. They appear top for most search phrases on the search engines regarding SEO. And as said before, this guy is offering you top 3 (which you already appear in my neck of the woods) so where will that leave his other customer?
Your site is fully content managed so you can get a company on board and manage all of this yourself, I will then help if any technical issues arise. Please don’t use this guy. I had no intention of using him. I just wanted you to see what he was sending me. As I said before I did not really want to leave the other parts of our business with him. You advised us to do so. Thank you for your advice on SEO.
Unfortunately he has got you regarding the hosting but happy to leave the website with me as discussed. I hate people in the industry like him who rip people off with scare tactics. Just did some searches for Essex, Kent, Cambridge, Suffolk and Newmarket and you are well up there. Just ignore him or tell him to stop emailing you regarding this. Let me know if you need help with anything else.

Hosting Review

This is an example of the information that we send our clients after we review their site at the end of their hosting period, prior to renewal:

Hope everything is good with you and your business. Even though we are only hosting your domain we are just doing a one year review of your site, as we do for every business, and saw that the rankings snapshot I done for you when talking about your SEO previously has not improved for the search term I chose.

Worryingly it has actually decreased in 2 search engines (Google and Yahoo) and only made a modest increase in one, obviously during our SEO projects we need to choose 5 – 10 search terms for your site to optimise, so this search term is only one but probably your most important, but would like to think that big increases could be achieved quite easily:

your primary search phrase is  16th in Bing, 14th in Google and 60th in Yahoo
your secondary search phrase is 20th in Bing, 10th in Google and 14th in Yahoo

Have a look at our most recent SEO rankings I hope that shows that we can deliver improvements for you.

I would like to think I can achieve a number one ranking for the search term “chocolate fountain essex” and be able to put your site in my portfolio of SEO success at a later date.

Here are some recommendations for your site if you wanted to improve it which should improve its position in the search engines:

1, Add a Blog >> full details on blogs:  An integrated blog will cost £200 and allow you to add as many pages as you want (and you can optimise these pages yourself with a little help from me to point you in the right direction)

2, Add some extra pages to the site perhaps have more testimonials pages or add more photos to your gallery or add pages dedicated to new things you can offer ? cost is dependent on exactly what you want as you know we can do the text for you also.

3, PPC campaign – Perhaps have a Google PPC advert you can start this on a small budget of £1 per day, will charge only the Google PPC charge plus 10% for managing it.

Did you ever consider the site changes and / SEO offer? I mention it as I was looking at rankings of chocolate fountain companies yesterday and noticed that you are still moving down or sideways along the rankings.

In Google your ranking for the competitive search term ‘chocolate fountain essex’ is now 8th (it was 4th about a year ago)

If you are interested the SEO project details are here:  As its Christmas and I am confident in getting you top 3 for 4-5 different search terms and as you were  happy with us with your website transfer. I am willing to reduce the cost of the 3 month SEO project from £800 – £900 to £700 – £800 with no monthly commitment afterwards, plus will reduce the cost of webcopy and the blog by 10% if you decide you want to increase your rankings / visitor numbers and website standing / popularity then this is a good option for you.
